As a doula, I support women’s birth choices whatever they may be. How you choose to birth is deeply personal to you. There are no wrong or right ways to birth and what may work for one woman, can be wildly different to what works for another.
Birth can also be unpredictable, your plans may alter as the circumstances of your pregnancy change, or situations may come up during labour that change the way you birth.
Whatever happens, my focus remains on supporting you and your family, advocating for your wants and needs throughout your journey, always ensuring you have access to balanced information and reminding you of your birth rights throughout.
doula packages
All doula packages include a free initial meeting to see whether we are a good match for each other. This typically lasts between 1 to 2 hours. After this appointment, I will send a contract for you to read through and details of a deposit. I require a deposit to secure my availability.
I never want my doula services to be seen as a “middle-class privilege”. The cost of living crisis is providing difficulties for most people right now. If the full amount does not feel doable for your family, please get in touch and we can discuss further - I consider payment plans, discounts and mutually-beneficial exchanges.
After reflecting on my previous experiences of offering doula support, I have realised that my previous ‘basic’ package did not provide the level of support I believe first time parents truly need whilst birthing in the current maternity system. I want every family I work with to feel fully informed, supported and confident throughout their journey, so I’ve redesigned my packages to better reflect the care I provide and the standard of support I believe in.
Please note, there will be an additional cost for those living more than 1 hour away from my home address.

For first time parents, offering comprehensive birth preparation. Additional postnatal appointments can be added after the birth if required.
At least 4 antenatal appointments, up to 3 hours long each. These can include reiki or rebozo massage.

Continuous pregnancy support over the phone for you and your partner. I will respond to messages or calls within 24 hours, and immediately during the on-call period.

Labour and birth support which can be from the initial onset of early labour up to 6 hours post-birth. Some women may want me to attend later on in the labour, or want me to leave sooner.
2 postpartum visits within the first 6 weeks after the birth, up to 2 hours long each. These can be used for whatever you feel you need. For example; birth debriefing, household chores, helping to care for the baby whilst you rest or wash, or helping with the older children.
1 postpartum food parcel.

For those wanting a very private freebirth, or for those who live further afield, my virtual support includes 1:1 support throughout the entirety of your pregnancy, labour and early postpartum - meaning you can expect a reply from me within 24 hours up until 6 weeks postpartum. We will schedule a minimum of 3 video calls antenatally to check in with you and your birth team, go through any birth plans together, discuss your options and things you may have not already considered. I will be available via phone call during the “due date” period in case you need to speak to somebody during labour. Also includes a birth debrief postnatally.

A doula provides continuous physical, emotional and nurturing support to a woman and her family as she journeys through pregnancy, labour, birth and the early postpartum period. Whilst I will offer you informational support and signpost you to non-biased resources, I cannot and do not replace the advice of a medical professional.
What I might do as a doula varies between women. You may primarily want me for advocacy during difficult appointments or a complex labour, for continuous emotional support, or even practical help at home. Being woman-centred is a constant, whatever I may do as your doula. I work for you, not the maternity system.

If you have a partner, I will work alongside them. I won’t replace them.
I am there to support both of you. In fact, I aim to empower both of you throughout pregnancy so that your labour and birth can be an incredible bonding experience for you as a couple.
Sometimes, partners may wish to have more practical roles in the birth space whilst I provide more of the emotional support. Other times, these roles are reversed. During pregnancy we will establish what everyone’s desired roles will be during labour so you both feel well supported.

During the earlier stages of pregnancy our antenatal appointments may look like simply getting to know each other better, perhaps talking about your previous birth experiences and discussing your hopes and fears for this pregnancy. We may meet at your house, my house, or somewhere in between.
Later in pregnancy, we will spend time going through your birth plans so I am able to advocate for you during your labour. I may also attend appointments with you if you’d like me to. Sometimes, practical help may be needed around the house during this time, or you may want a rebozo massage to ease some of the discomforts that can come with the later stages of pregnancy.
If you have birth partners, antenatal appointments provide an opportunity for me to get to know them better. If planning a home birth, I will familiarise myself with your home during this time too.

It’s up to you! There is no time limit for my birth support. I may be with you for hours or days, it really depends on your labour, birth and what you want or need.
Whilst some women may want me there during early labour, other’s may rather be alone during this time and call me later on. I can also come and go if that’s what feels right for you at the time.
Post birth, I will stay with you for at least a couple of hours or until you feel settled and ready for me to leave. When having a home birth, I will make sure your home is tidied up post birth so you can focus on bonding with your new arrival.

Postnatally, women may want me for emotional support during the big hormonal shifts post birth. We will debrief from the birth experience during these appointments and I’ll be able to answer any questions you may have.
As a four-time breastfeeding Mam, I can offer you breastfeeding support if you are choosing to feed this way, and help connect you with appropriate help if challenges arise.
I am able to help you practically too - whether that’s running you a bath, cooking you food, cleaning the house or running errands. Sometimes it’s a huge help just to have someone come and play with the older children whilst you relax with your newborn.
antenatal education
I offer a personalised 1:1 Antenatal Education course for you and your birth team. This comprises of 3 x 3 hour sessions covering pregnancy, birth and postpartum. The sessions are informational, practical and interactive and include an information pack for you and your partner, and goodies for you to enjoy. Within 1 hour of Llanaelhaearn.
